The Energetics of Yoni Health

Dis-ease is the absence of ease, the absence of spirally flow, and the presence of stagnation and resistance.

And when challenges arise and create certain emotions within us, that is, how we feel about the dis-ease, we’re given our greatest medicine. The way we feel about the dis-ease was already present in some way and thus contributed to the physical manifestation of it.

Physical health challenges, especially those involving our yonis, are invitations to more deeply connect with ourselves and our bodies, rather than trying to fix, manipulate, or berate them.

Symptoms are invitations for deeper explorations and are never the actual problem.

As womxn’s ill health continues to be normalized and even expected, I am increasingly passionate about empowering us to become our own healers by reconnecting with the spiral principle and befriending our wise, sacred bodies through presence, curiosity, and intention.

The root of our core is the essence of our femininity. Everything begins in the root! Our sense of safety, our sense of belonging in the world, our sense of being provided for and having our basic needs met, and more are vital to our overall health.  If we’re walking around with feminine shame and wounding, we’ll inevitably experience physical health challenges.

How do we heal our yonis? How is the health of our yonis indicative of our overall health on all levels – physically, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually? How can ill health serve as a map towards our optimal, authentic life? How to heal ailments like thrush, bacterial vaginosis, amenorrhea, and PCOS? What does it mean to have a dry vagina? Sure, there are plenty of more mainstream approaches to finding relief, and I implore all of us to dig even deeper.

Remember that the cause is the remedy; how this makes you feel is why it is here.

Here are some of the most common ailments facing women and their energetic components:

Thrush/Yeast/Candida

Potential Deeper Invitation: Shame around sexual encounters of the past; associated with being sexually violated and/or betrayed; the manifestation of this serves as a protective/defensive mechanism; unresolved anger

Suggested Practices: Homemade pessaries, forgiveness practices, giving back the shame (especially useful in situations where there has been violation of sexual boundaries), expressing and exploring anger

Leukorrhea + Bacterial Vaginosis

Potential Deeper Invitation: Shame and dislike of the Self; feminine shame; early childhood trauma; challenges with father/father figures; lack of trust in the the self and in the world

Suggested Practices: Yoni steam pots, inner child work, reconciling challenges with father/father figures, developing one’s own autonomy to rekindle trust

Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome

Potential Deeper Invitation: Dislike of the self and of the feminine herself; early childhood trauma and being shamed for being a female; Mother Wounds; unconscious or overt preference for the masculine/triangle aspects at the expense of one’s feminine/spiral aspects

Suggested Practices: Getting into flow and receptivity, herbal support, self-pleasure, re-defining femininity for yourself, self-pleasure practices and other forms of sensual embodiment, resolving Mother Wound

Amenorrhea

Potential Deeper Invitation: Denial of flow, rhythms, and cycles; resentment towards being a spirally creature and having a fear of resting and a fear of being “less than” or not able to consistently perform at one’s peak (while bleeding we’re inevitably in a “weakened” state, which can feel quite scary to those unwilling to surrender to the ebbs and flows of life)

Suggested Practices: Honoring flow through seasonal living, healing trauma associated with not feeling safe, bringing presence to that which feels grounding and warm in your life and allowing space for more it

Fertility Struggles

Potential Deeper Invitation: Fear of mothering; Mother Wound

Suggested Practices: Herbal support, acupuncture, reconciling inner child and forgiveness of mother figures, defining what it means to be a mother and why you wish to bring life into the world for you uniquely

Vaginal Dryness

Potential Deeper Invitation: Fear; lack of emotional connection with partner/self; resentment/unresolved conflict with sexuality; inability to fully relax and receive

Suggested Practices: Herbal support, yoni steam pot, homemade oils applied topically to nourish the tissues, gentle and agenda-less self-pleasure exploration

PMS/PMDD

Potential Deeper Invitation: Resistance, bypassing, unbalanced lifestyle throughout the cycle; shame around cycles and being a womxn.

Suggested Practices: Herbal support, being with the source(s) of the emotional challenges that arise as they really need your attention and can guide you towards the nourishment that will bring balance.

While the following aren’t necessarily yoni ailments, they plague so many womxn and are worth mentioning.

Adrenal Fatigue

Potential Deeper Invitation: Perfectionism; fear and the need to control in order to feel safe; a sense of unworthiness that drives the need to overcompensate and overachieve; early life trauma; often concurrent with amenorrhea and/or PCOS (which can also appear concurrently)

Suggested Practices: Herbal support, warmth and grounding, allowing yourself to be nurtured and supported, allowing yourself to be vulnerable in safe situations, asking for help, nervous system support and deep relaxation, exploring your unique driving force and the root thereof (perfectionism, unworthiness, insecurity, etc.)

Hypothyroid

Potential Deeper Invitation: Denial of expression and stifling of one’s truth; withholding authenticity; keeping secrets for others; not sticking up for self in cases of violations, betrayals, injustices

Suggested Practices: Chanting, singing, screaming, herbal support, acupuncture, expressing secrets and anything being withheld
